| The Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries" is a merger of 7 Institutes and 19 chairs at the RWTH Aachen to solve the research question how production technology has to be designed to make an economically viable production in high-wage countries available in the future. The solution to this issue cannot be found by working only on a single research field, but rather requires interdisciplinary approaches. For this reason, the teams of different Chairs and Institutes of the RWTH Aachen which are working on sub-projects concerning the Cluster of Excellence, interact closely. In additon to everyone's point of view, this interdisciplinary collaboration offers all participants the opportunity to address their research issues well directed and to include approaches of others into their own solution process. Through this, working on the Cluster of Excellence differs essentially from other ways of working, e. g. in a highly focused activity in a specific technical area.
