One of the characteristics of this Leonardo lecture series is that – usually two – lecturers from different academic cultures (natural and engineering sciences, medicine, culture and humanities, economics and social sciences) offer a so called teaching module that is focused on a social challenge and addresses students of all faculties. In the past semesters modules to questions and problems of energy, climate chance, world’s population and health, globalization and the dialog of cultures were offered. Beyond the department bounderies the students shell get to know the different ways of thinking and the approaches of the different disciplines by working together in interdisciplinary groups. Furthermore they shell experience the “universitas” in its original meaning as an academic community together with fellow students from other departments and disciplines of the RWTH Aachen.
