METAV - International Fair for Manufacturing Technology and Automation, 31. March - 4. April 2008More than 840 exhibitors from 23 countries presented at the METAV 2008 in Düsseldorf products, technologies and services for industrial production. The Cluster of Excellence was represented at the fair.
AKL - International Laser Technology Congress, 7. - 9. May 2008
At the congress laser manufacturers and laser users from various branches will meet at the biannual International Laser Technology Congress AKL. Featuring over 500 participants, around 70 speakers and over 30 sponsors, the AKL has established itself as the leading forum for applied laser technology in Germany.
Colloquium for employees, May 2008
Core activities of the colloquium for employees in May 2008 constituted networking activities with the clusters of excellence ‘Ultra High Speed Information and Communication’ and ‘Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass’ of RWTH Aachen University. Moreover, the presentation and discussion of the first cluster-specific Balanced Scorecard evaluation was executed on the cluster level.
Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium (AWK), 5./6. June 2008
On 5th and 6th June 2008 the Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium (AWK) was held in Aachen. Over 1,300 participants from industry, academia and research took advantage of the opportunity, to discuss together on "Integrative Production Technology for High-wage countries", the theme of the Excellence Cluster.
Gender Workshop, 31. July 2008
A gender strategy workshop was organised in 2008 with participants from the clusters of excellence ‘Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries’, ‘Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass’, ‘Ultra High Speed Information and Communication’ as well as further Gender and Diversity representatives of RWTH Aachen University. In this workshop strategic Gender and Diversity measures were discussed and an inter-cluster exchange among the female scientists was initiated strengthening a continuous experience exchange between different actors in the field of Gender and Diversity at RWTH Aachen University.
Source Event, 26. September 2008
The Cluster of Excellence was represented at the Source Event in London, a careers fair for scientists. 40 exhibitor informed 1100 attendees in the Business Design Centre in Islington about the career opportunities.
Colloquium for employees, November 2008
The superstructure of the cluster of excellence and the core team of the executive board were presented within the colloquium for employees in November 2008. During project-specific workshops each sub-project had the task to refine its scientific alignment with regard to the cluster superstructure.
