ICD F: Cross Sectional Processes
Integrative Cluster Domain "Cross Sectional Processes" (ICD F) addresses the issues of scientific cooperation, education and lifelong learning, equal opportunities and diversity management, knowledge management and transfer as well as controlling (cf. Figure). The objective of the Cross Sectional Processes is to provide the research work of the thematic ICDs with appropriate steering and support processes, following the vision that excellence in integrative scientific cooperation requires advanced scientific organization, excellent networked information and knowledge management processes. The main research questions are: How should networked, partly virtualized, knowledge-intensive and highly complex research collaborations of the Cluster of Excellence (CoE) be organized and facilitated to ensure the high quality of the cluster’s output? In how far can sustainability of the collaborations be assured in future? As crucial aspects for the realization of an excellent outcome in highly dynamic and complex research environments the following targets have been derived by the team of the Cross Sectional Processes for the first funding period of the cluster:
· support in the organization of scientific cooperations,
· support in dealing with ‘dynaxity’ (parallel dynamic and complexity) in highly complex scientific cooperations,
· high process and output quality of the scientific cooperations,
· securing knowledge in scientific cooperations,
· sustainability of scientific cooperations.
With regard to these targets, the Cross Sectional Processes have been introducing different measures to support the successful development of the entire cluster.
