Female research assistants
The following profiles present exemplary female research assistants and their work at the Cluster of Excellence.

What I like the most in my work in the CoE: On the one hand, the active participation of interdisciplinary discourse, on the other hand, to analyze the cluster development and the synergies of interdisciplinary work. How does my daily work routine look like: The combination of service and research tasks in our project has a significant impact on my everyday work. Thus it is characterized by a high level of coordination and team-work (e.g., design and implementation of various cluster events, educational programs, etc.). Second, we conduct both indirect (e.g. scorecard-based survey) as well as direct evaluations (e.g. expert interviews) of these events. This must of course be conceived, analyzed and published. My everyday work in the cluster is a combination of teamwork and coordination work and scientific accompanying research in support of cluster development. Why the CoE?: Because I am fascinated by the size, dynamics and complexity of such a research topic. Furthermore, the combination of interdisciplinary institutes and stakeholders is unique. |
![]() | Dipl.-Inform. Susanne AghassiInstitute: Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology Function in the CoE: Research Associate Research: Technology management, technology forecasting, roadmapping What I like the most in my work in the CoE: The cooperation and exchange with the various institutions. |
![]() | Dipl.-Ing. Stefanie ElgetiInstitute: Chair for Computational Analysis of Technical Systems Function in the CoE: Staff member in ICD A Research: Numerical shape optimization of extrusion tools My work at the CoE I would describe as ... Mathematical precision of engineering intuition What I like the most in my work in the CoE: The interdisciplinary work with people. How does my daily work routine look like: In addition to the regular business meetings, my work takes place mainly on my computer. Essential components of development of new methodologies are implementing, simulating and visualizing. Why the CoE?: In my opinion the attractiveness of the cluster of excellence is mainly working in small and large teams, which enhances to think outside the box. |
![]() | Dipl.-Ing. Britta KuckhoffInstitute: Institut für Textiltechnik, RWTH Aachen University Function in the CoE: Research associate in ICD B2.1 Testcase: Textile reinforced piston-rod Research: Virtual simulation chain for a textile reinforced metal matrix piston rod My work at the CoE I would describe as ... Interesting and diversified work in small scientific research groups and strategic meetings in the complete project team. What I like the most in my work in the CoE: To work in an interdisciplinary team with highly motivated and qualified researchers. How does my daily work routine look like: Besides the simulating and modelling on the computer we meet regularly in our research group. My work also includes preparing presentations and writing publications about my research. Why the CoE? Being part of such a large project is a very interesting experience. The long term project allowed me to take a family time out and spent his first five month at home with my son. |
