tasteMINT
tasteMINT - that is to try technology, discover strengths in mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology.
tasteMINT is for all female pupils at the secondary level II who want to try whether a study in this area comes into consideration. It is no selection process, but it serves as a self-monitoring and guiding tool.
tasteMINT is a 3-day, personales potential assessment procedure. This means that the female pupils can try out in small groups on exciting topics in each area. In addition to the four major areas, a task to social skills is offered. Social skills are important for a successful completion of a MINT-degree.
Trained observers give in confidential discussions a personal feedback on strengths and show potential.
In addition to the assessment tasks further program like robotics courses and study counseling is offered.

MiTH - Girls in technology and handicraft

| Since 1998 the Equality Officer and the professional training center of the RWTH Aachen organise the program MiTH - Girls in technology and handicraft. In 1998 1000 apprentices were working at the RWTH Aachen but only 1% was female. Today there are still too few woman in the seminal sector technology, handicraft and computer sience (23%). In order to inspire more girls to an education in technology and handicraft, the project was developed. Female pupils in grades 9 - 10 of all types of school can test practical "typical male" professions at the RWTH Aachen. Every spring and autumn two internship days are offered. |

Girls Day

| Since 2001 on the fourth Thursday in April the Girls Day is taking place. Female pupils in grades 5 - 10 of all types of school have the opportunity to get a small insights into a variety of interesting work and career fields. On this day the RWTH Aachen (in collaboration with the University Hospital) offers the participating pupils many different activities and workshops. Furthermore, it shows the everyday work of their institutions, departments and laboratories. |

| At the 14th April 2011 the RWTH Aachen organised in collaboration with the University Hospital the second Boys Day. At the Boys Day male pupils in grades 5 - 10 of all types of school are informed about jobs in which boys are underrepresented. |
