Study and personality


Study and personality is a training for female students in the first three semesters.
The start of studying is associated with a variety of changes. There is often not much time for dealing with personal issues and reflections.
Only 30% of the students are female, in engineering the number is even smaller. Hence, what can I do for myself as a female student of the RWTH Aachen University?
During the training it will be worked on this question.

Career training for female students


Soft skills are also important for a successful career. Already at university competent women should start with a firm career management to reach high management levels.
The first step is the career training for female students which is organised by the RWTH Aachen, FH Aachen, KatHO NRW Aachen, Hochschule für Musik and Sparkasse Aachen.

Equality project of the student body




 
The student body offers an advisory service for all students, idependent initatives and institutions of the student body.

Main topics of the consultation are:
  • Discrimination based on gender
  • Sexual harassment
  • Representing the specific interests of students in gender issues dealing with the university
  • General equality and gender issues
  • Promote the university's internal dealing with issues of equality

TANDEM

TANDEM was the first mentoring programme RWTH Aachen established in 2002. It addresses female graduate and doctoral students from all fields of study (except for medicine) at RWTH Aachen University. TANDEM offers the mentees support and guidance regarding future career decisions and qualification opportunities through the assignment of mentors, monthly network meetings and the possibility to participate in workshops on career-related topics.
The programme is anchored in the agreement on objectives between RWTH Aachen and the federal ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia and is not temporarily limited .

Femtec Careerbuilding-Program


 
Femtec is a university career center for the promotion of female students in engineering and science education for leadership positions.
Ambitious students can participate at the 1.5-year career-building program Femtec network. In addition to special trainings to develop communication, leadership and management skills, the program offers a continuous individual career counseling and assistance with internships and career entry.

ISC Services for International Applicants


The Info Service Center assists international applicants for degree courses or a study abroad period with selecting suitable courses and programmes, provides the necessary documents and application forms and puts you in touch with staff who is able to assist with your queries. Further, the ISC offers information and services for international and German students, doctoral candidates and visiting scholars. The ISC is one of the main contact points at the International Office, providing support and assistancents.

BeBuddy

"Be Buddy" is an informal mentoring programme initiated by the International Office of RWTH Aachen University which aims to enable newly enrolled international students to adjust to university life and living in a new city, and to meet, mix with, and learn from other RWTH students. Thus the International Office is intent on matching up each international student with an experienced RWTH student – if possible from the same faculty – who is to provide support and general information.
